Description of the initiative

Visit to the reconstruction sites after the Friuli earthquake of 1976.The visit will be guided by the professors of the CERM GPEM course (Scira Menoni, Maria Pia Boni and Daniela Carrion) and by Prof. Stefano Grimaz, professor at the University of Udine and his team. There will be a workshop to share research and projects with the Udine research unit, UNESCO Chair in Intersectoral Security for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience.The training site for Civil Protection and Fire Brigade operators of the SERM Academy International School of Seismic Emergency Management, for the assessment of post-earthquake structural damage (Venzone, UD) will be shown and described.Included is a guided tour of the Tiere Motus museum (Venzone, UD), dedicated to the historical memory of the earthquake, of the people and to the disaster management cycle.A visit to the cathedral and the village of Venzone (UD)  is included, which wereentirely rebuilt after the earthquake in an accurate way with respect to the original buildings.In case of bad weather, the training outside can be replaced with videos of the exercises.
Departure is scheduled in the morning of 29/05/2024 and return in the evening of 30/05/2024.

Note

Students are required to pay a contribution of 50 euros (to be paid through PagoPA, with pertaining commissions, by the deadline prior to departure that will be indicated, under penalty of exclusion from the visit)  and to bring packed lunch on the first day, then, travel, accommodation, dinner on the 29th and packed lunch on the 30th are covered by the CCS "Civil Engineering for risk mitigation" and by the course "Geospatial data processing to support seismic emergency management".
