Descrizione dell'iniziativa
DesignMind proposes the 2024 edition of the immersive campus in the village of Castellania Coppi (Alessandria), after the success of the 2023 summer school and the spring edition DesignMindgoestoDesignWeek, dedicated once again to those who choose to commit to a sustainable and inclusive future and want to work on a precise and concrete project, geolocalized in an area rich in history, culture and biodiversity, to help define its vocation and future. DesignMind is conceived as a practical school that teaches planning through the peculiar lens of design, referring, rather than to the product, to the spirit and attitude that pervades and underlies the culture of design. A school as it was understood in remote and recent times at the same time, made up of real and tangible experiences, of lively exchange with teachers, with the local community and with students among themselves. From this vision, the first application on the territory of DesignMind was born in 2023: This land is your land, a name that explains the summer school's vocation to have a real, visible and effective impact on a specific territory, beyond formulas and commitments abstracts that often accompany declarations of commitment to the Planet. The students hosted in Castellania Coppi on the Tortonesi Hills will be involved in intense work and followed by an unprecedented pool of teachers including a team of established designers, professionals from the world of design (designers, journalists, photographers, storytellers) and counselors. DesignMind includes moments of lessons and work mixed with formal and informal meetings with professionals who will accompany the student on a journey through the themes of the project, the practical and everyday ones and the less obvious and nuanced ones, sometimes even the subject of taboos, but equally central in the creative profession. For this reason, in addition to working on the project, there will be an opportunity to talk about and delve into issues that are implicit in the life of the designer and are generally not addressed in any school and which here instead will be the subject of real frontal lessons: the management of failure; the opportunity hidden in the mistake; the copy: the money and the economic request: the construction of the idea; the method; the search for one's own design path.

Venerdì 19 luglio: arrivo, sistemazione nelle camere, introduzione, incontro con il sindaco, lancio del brief, lezione, incontro con aziende partner
Sabato 20 luglio: lavoro, incontro con ospite e coach
Domenica 21 luglio: lavoro, incontro con ospite e coach, lezione nel bosco
Lunedì 22 luglio: lavoro, incontro con ospite e coach
Martedì 23 luglio: lavoro, incontro con ospite e coach, festa di saluto
Mercoledì 24 luglio: presentazione dei lavori, partenza entro le ore 13:00
Note
Acces with scholarship, five positions totally free, after those, if selected, will be possible to partecipate with 500 euros contribution fee for all the activities listed below:
- Accommodation in single or shared rooms (upon request) at "Hotel Il Borgo di Castellania" (private bathroom, tv, wi-fi);
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with dedicated chef and kitchen (please inform us of any allergies or intolerances at the time of registration);
- Shuttle service to and from Tortona train station;
- Entrance to the Coppi Museum;
- Excursions;
- Stationery and materials for project development;
- Aperitivo talk with Guest;
- Final participation certificate.
