"We teach complexity". With these words, the Ecoles Centrales Group partners, coming to our University every year, open their presentation to the students of Politecnico di Milano. It is true that, having a creative point of view and an open approach to the world, a strong initiative and knowing how to manage complex projects thanks to the study of scientific and humanistic subjects, are the real characteristics of the "Centralien", the graduate student of one of these schools. Being a centralien is a real social status, recognized throughout France and all over the world. One of the most famous centralien is Gustave Eiffel. The University is part of the Grandes écoles, the famous engineering schools that train the managers of the leadership of the country. More than 60% of the presidents and directors of the 100 largest French companies come from one of these institutions. Every year, thousands of French students try this national examination to enter one of these Schools, but only 4% of them is admitted. Thanks to the Double Degree Agreement with Centrale Nantes, Politecnico di Milano, since more than 20 years, can send dozens of students to this institution, who are directly admitted to attend classes and obtain the qualification equivalent to Master of Science at the end of their academic career. Founded in 1857, by a businessman and humanist and a professor, with the name of École Centrale lyonnaise pour l'Industrie et le Commerce, Lyon engineering school wanted to train students in the field of chemistry, industrial mechanics, civil construction and industrial design. During its 160 years of history, it has kept its first purpose together with a wider point of view on general training, able to train engineers open to the world and to its challenges. Through scientific accuracy and the study of humanities and social subjects, it wants to create a profile of graduate student that knows how to be a leader and has managerial duties and focused on international market.
