At first, it was connected to the French Ministry of Industry, IFP School is today also one of the best universities that trains students and young professionals from all over the world in the field of energy and answers to the needs of industry and society, in particular in the field of durable and innovative development. The engineering school is located in Malmaison-Rueil, a few kilometres from Paris. Founded in 1954, IFP is part of IFP Energies Nouvelles, the French Oil Institute, a research centre in the French public sector. 600 students graduate in this school every year and it has about 20 Master programmes, including 10 of them in English. Strongly connected to the companies in this sector, it offers students the opportunity to do internships and research in one of these companies, as opportunity to enter in the world of work. The Double Degree programme includes a corporate sponsor that follows the student throughout his/her career and then offers him/her the possibility of being included in the staff. It also offers second level programmes in Algeria, Malaysia, Russia and Venezuela through partnerships with local universities and corporate sponsors.
