Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology, or KAIST, is a public research university located in Daedeok Innopolis, Daejeon, South Korea. Founded in 1971, it is the first research-oriented scientific and engineering institution, it promotes elite human resources in science and technology. The university is in the top positions of the international rankings: from 2014 to 2018, in the QS World University Rankings, it has passed from 51st to the 40th place and has been recognized as one of the top 20 universities in the world for mechanical engineering and aeronautics, for the third consecutive year. It has approximately 10,200 full-time students and 1140 researchers.
