The Norwegian University of Science and Technology NTNU is the leading institution of higher education in Norway for teaching of science and technology, and training of engineers. It is a university focused on the international dimension, based in Trondheim and with Campuses in Ålesund and Gjøvik. Today, it is the largest university in Norway, with a history dating back to 1910 and a tradition back to 1767 and to the Norwegian Royal Society of Sciences and Letters, it has 8 departments, in addition to units such as the NTNU University Museum and the NTNU University Library; about 39700 students and 6900 full-time staff. The university offers different professional study programmes and a wide range of educational offers that include, in addition to Engineering, Architecture, Art, Medicine and Health Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Educational Sciences and Teacher Training, Natural Sciences, Economics, Finance and Administration. It also has four strategic research areas in 2014-2023: sustainability, energy, oceans and health. It has offices in Japan and Brussels (together with the University of Bergen and SINTEF). Two NTNU researchers received Nobel prizes: May-Britt Moser and Edvard Moser (2014). In addition, the winners Ivar Giæver (1973) and Lars Onsager (1968) studied at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH), which was one of the previous institution of NTNU. The NTNU social mission is to create knowledge for a better world and provide solutions that can change and improve everyday life.
