Founded in 1925, Pontifica Universidad Catolica de Valparaíso (PUVC) is today one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions in Chile. The history of the University is fully merged with the history of Valparaiso, a city that was built in its beginnings by immigrants from different parts of the world. Throughout its history, it has been recognized as a leader in undergraduate programs, in research, in graduate studies, in engagement, and in community relations. PUCV has given high standard education to students who have become great professionals and citizens delivering a comprehensive high quality education which promotes their abilities and interests for them to be the best both as individuals and professionals. The quality of its teaching staff and its students are a reflection of its values and traditions. PUCV is an urban university. It has a central campus known as Casa Central (Central House) located in downtown Valparaíso. The University is a heterogeneous institution that develops its activities in different faculties including Engineering and Architecture. Today PUCV has exchange students and scientific and graduate cooperation agreements with several Higher Education Institutions around the world.
