Founded in 1842 and located in Santiago de Chile, the capital city, Universidad de Chile is a public university with international quality, it is at the top of the Chilean university system with regard to teaching, research, creation and outreach. Its main mission is to generate, develop, integrate and communicate knowledge in all the areas of knowledge. Universidad de Chile has buildings with a high heritage value and their contribution to the urban surroundings has converted them into landmarks of Santiago. Its Faculties, including architecture and urbanism, and its Institutes, are diistributed in different campuses and several experimental stations in Santiago and other Regions of Chile. The university offers also sport areas to be used by students and professors and inter-faculty sports competitions take place there throughout the year.
