Description

The Specialising Master's activities will address topics related to: the development of virtual models for the simulation of future scenarios, understanding of the various needs of the actors who take part in the procedure (architects, civil engineers, customers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, producers of construction components), definition of the BIM execution plan and related documents for each specific discipline in order to support the communication at all the levels of the project's life cycle. Technical knowledge to proceed to BIM applications and for the development of the WBS will be provided for planning all the project's phases: starting from the organisation of the work and the construction site till the management of the integrated flows in the general project, with specific skills to remove critical issues arising among the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical project, among contractors, producers, installers and customers. Further themes will concern the construction costs estimation, the quantity surveyor's competencies (cost planning and commercial management, cost management process, risk management) and the project financial analysis. Moreover, the Course will deepen the field of the interoperability among the various applications, structural analysis, energy and acoustic analysis with suitable software, for checking the project's coherence and compliance with current laws and procedures.

Educational project

The Specialising Master's training program provides the theoretical principles and the advanced operating models for the project life cycle management, where the project is intended as the method of managing and elaborating the information flow in complex systems, which require the adoption of tools able to define a coherent documentation since the preliminary stages. The course provides knowledge for defining a project from the early design phases, the technical and economic feasibility study, the general and detailed plan, the choice of contractors, up to the working phase and related control actions, predicting its particular features in terms of building management and dealing with its disposal. The Master's program provides the tools to guarantee an efficient process management, through cross-disciplinary models capable of generating informative structures of different detail levels. The roles of the main operators involved will be analysed in-depht in the light of the contents of the current legislative framework related to organisational models of project management, building information modelling and advanced operative tools. Some of the advanced tools that will be used are Revit, Dynamo, MSProject, Navisworks, Allplan, Archicad, Tekla, Solibri, DDS_CAD, Civil 3D, Infraworks, STR Vision CPM, Archibus, Termolog, Travilog, Acustilog, simultaneously with the use of classification plans and standards such as Masterformat, Uniformat II, Omniclass, UNI standards for construction.

Requirements

The course is open to applicants holding a Master of Science degree (or equivalent degrees) in architecture and engineering. Equivalent foreign qualifications of the respective University Systems will be considered valid. The Board reserves the right to admit applicants who have qualifications in disciplines other than those specified above, if the Master may complete the training of the applicant.
