Descrizione dell'iniziativa
Are you interested in co-creating an housing orientation service for PoliMi students?
Do you want your housing experience in Milan to be helpful for future students while learning how to co-design a service?
This initiative is part of the project StudMIHome (Students Living in Milan - www.studentslivinginmilan.polimi.it), funded by Polisocial Award 2023. The project investigates the practices of the student housing market in Milan to understand the dynamics of the private rental market and the experiences of students within it. The research began in December 2023 and has seen the collaboration of three departments: Architecture and Urban Studies, REC, and Design. By participating in this initiative you will gain understanding of the broader context of students' housing experience in Milan private market (structural conditions, affordability, regulations, malpractices), learn about multidisciplinary research methodology and participate in the co-design of a housing orientation service for PoliMi students that will be implemented in 2025. To do so, you will take part in two service design workshops and one seminar on housing. In each co-design workshop you will be introduced to some service-design methods that you will be asked to use during the session along with data coming from the StudMIHome research team.
- Workshop 1 - Concept refinement
The first workshop will help us to develop and refine the housing orientation service idea. We will share the research methodology and insights and ask you to contribute by integrating your personal knowledge of the issue. We will use the User Journey tool to represent your personal housing journey and reflect in teams on the support and information students need at each step of the journey. After the workshop you will be asked to digitize your Journey and reflections and deliver it in PDF. - Workshop 2 - Prototyping and testing
In the second workshop you will be asked to test some housing orientation services and materials developed based on the first workshop, and do some fast prototyping to improve it. You will be introduced to some prototyping and testing tools used in service design and then you will try them both in class with other participants and on campus with other students. After the workshop you will be asked to digitize your work and deliver it in PDF.
- Seminar On the 14th of November, you will have the opportunity to participate in the StudMIHome research seminar where the research team will present the research findings along with policy suggestions for policy-makers (including Polimi) and the state-of-the-art of the orientation service. In this setting, you will have the opportunity to share your work, insights and advice.
