Descrizione dell'iniziativa

Europe and the United States have collective interests in the relationship between the built environment to its historical and physical context. These interests include a diverse discourse on sustainable development, technology, planning & design, communication, and conservation. The workshop focus on the developing opportunities to integrate sustainable development with planned preservation, cultural heritageStudents of Polimi, Italy, and Ball State University, United States will develop a research focused on the shared theme of Industrial Heritage, Urban Regeneration, and conservation of historic buildings and districts. The outcome of these workshops is multilayered proposal for improvement the connection and ehnancement (cultural and physical) of Abbadia area, the historical center, the historical silkfactory.

Heritage conservation exists beyond national boundaries. As we educate our emerging architects and building engineers, urban planners it is imperative that they are exposed to the different approaches to heritage conservation during their education and training so they can be more effective not only in their home countries, but in an ever-growing need for international collaboration. It is important that these emerging professionals understand the role of heritage in achieving the goals of UNESCO's New Urban Agenda and the EU strategic goals for youth "participation and civic engagement" (ref. youth.europa.eu/strategy_it)

Calendario

Il workshop si terrà dalle 9 am alle 6 pm dal 29 settembre al 4 ottobre 2024 con il seguente programma:
Primo giorno: kick off, presentazioni sulla tutela del IH nei paesi di appartenenza
Sopralluogo al setificio, organizzazione dei gruppi di lavoro e del lavoro da svolgere nei giorni seguenti. 
Secondo giorno: presentazione dell'analisi multilivello; acquisizione dei dati di analisi in cantiere, applicazione di diagnostica
Terzo giorno: ultimi sopralluoghi e raccolta dei dati in cantiere; elaborazione dei dati e primo briefing e swot analysis; prime ipotesi di progetto
Quarto giorno: sviluppo e discussione delle ipotesi progettuali alle diverse scale, selezione delle ipotesi da presentare, produzione e organizzazione del progetto; organizzazione della presentazione e assegnazione delle slide da produrre. Produzione delle slide
Quinto giorno: organizzazione della presentazione e presentazione pubblica: sintesi della discussione con gli stake holders
Nei giorni precedenti l'inizio del workshop, si svolgeranno alcune attività propedeutiche in remoto.
