Descrizione dell'iniziativa

Maglietica" (T-shirts + Ethics) is a theoretical-practical workshop on textile-based design, focusing on the design and prototyping of indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishing accessories made from recycled fabric, organised by Girotondo Base Camp and SICA UPCYCLING DESIGN®.
The workshop will be held at Girotondo Base Camp, a former hostel in the Reggio Emilia Apennines that is being converted into an off-grid co-living/co-working unit aimed at digital nomads and mountain life.
At the moment, the co-working is focusing on its interior design, with a renovation that will take the form of a continuous evolution, the result of co-creation and the celebration of beauty as a common good, in line with the focus on social impact, that is central to the Girotondo project. The interiors of Girotondo Base Camp, Atelier and Enterprise Accelerator will therefore be the result of a slow and consciously tailored design process. Each common space, private room and bathroom will be co-designed and co-built with design students, artists, creatives and artisans in a series of workshops, of which "Maglietica" will be the second episode.
The workshop is part of the long-term plan of Campo Base Girotondo, which consists of research and the application of design strategies that make sustainability a matter of proximity, bringing it closer to the mountain community of Ventasso.
During the workshop, the design students will design objects and furnishings starting from a material requirement: the use of recycled fabrics, recovered from the Fast-Fashion supply chain. The furnishings can then be prototyped, using weaving techniques and creating yarns from waste fabrics. Tensioned fabric furniture, hammocks and canopy curtains, embroidered tapestries, cushions and rugs are just some of the possible results of the co-design process, which will be led by Brazilian designer Simone Simonato, with over 15 years of experience in the fashion and textile design sector, including a decade dedicated to collaborating with artisans in Bangladesh.
The workshop will be divided into three phases: research (online), design (online and in person) and application (in person).  In the first phase, the focus will be on generating concepts and ideas. In the second phase, these design strategies will be applied to a real project that will then be implemented in the third phase of co-creation during the workshop at Campo Base Girotondo.
The workshop starts from the notion of design as a conscious contribution to sustainable transition from both a practical and a conceptual point of view, and will lead participants to confront, theoretically and experimentally, the ecological and cultural responsibilities of design.
Objectives: co-design and co-construction of a system of textile furnishings.
Tools: digital design tools and prototyping techniques.
Criteria for successful completion of the activity: active participation, compulsory attendance, final presentation of the work.
