Descrizione dell'iniziativa

Also this year we offer interested students an introductory course to scientific dissemination in which we put together the basic concepts of communication and those to apply them to the creation of podcasts. We do it with two exceptional teachers: Massimo Polidoro and Lorenzo Paletti.
The secret of good scientific dissemination lies in the ability to ignite a spark capable of stimulating the curiosity of the listener. Those who do research, however, are rarely able to put themselves on the wavelength of a layman and tend to speak as they would with colleagues or students who follow the courses. To make oneself understood by the housewife and the employee, but also by the economist or politician, it is necessary to develop a different way of communicating. You have to learn a series of techniques related to information processing, the functioning of the human mind, public speaking, storytelling, non-verbal communication ... all things that are not normally taught in university courses. The aim of the first part of the course, therefore, will be to provide participants with a toolbox of creative and reasoning tools essential for transforming their ability to express themselves and, above all, to make themselves understoodIn the second part of the course, students will have the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge on scientific dissemination that they have previously acquired in the creation of a podcast. Depending on their field of specialization, participants will be divided into groups consisting of 2-4 people. Each group will be associated with another group with a different specialization, and the two will interview each other, allowing each to put themselves in the shoes of both the expert and the lay public. Course participants will record these interviews and use them to produce a short popular podcast (10 minutes).
