Descrizione dell'iniziativa

This PiA is designed to support Politecnico di Milano students who want to participate in the competition "Designing Possible Futures 2024-2025," the second edition of a long-term project promoted by the Franco Albini Foundation (with various partners and under the patronage of the Salone del Mobile Milano, ADI Industrial Design Association, the Order of Architects of Sassari, and with the support of Triennale Milano). This project is part of a broader territorial regeneration program that will culminate in creating the "Citadel of Inspiration" in the Municipality of Aglientu, Sardinia. The Citadel is conceived as an innovative model of sustainable development for the "Civilization of the Future," a widespread laboratory that will embrace the entire territory, merging landscape, creativity, and human relations in line with the 2030 Agenda, to develop Sustainable Cultural Tourism in the area. Specifically, for this second edition of the competition, the task is to create a multifunctional space of about 250 square meters where experiences can be shared in art, craftsmanship, holistic wellness, and gastronomic traditions. This space, built in the center of Aglientu, will allow for purchasing everything on display (from food and wine products to handcrafted and design items), stimulating the circular economy and enhancing local producers and high-quality craftsmanship. This will be done through a structured annual event program to promote moments of interaction, experimentation, and cultural growth.
The competition is open to individual participants (group work is not allowed): university students (enrolled in degree programs in architecture, engineering, design, or related fields at any Italian university); architects and designers under 35. Participation in the call is therefore open to everyone, but it is specified that only students enrolled at the Politecnico di Milano can take part in this PiA.
The submission consists of a project concept proposal, and the required deliverables include: a brief project description (max. 1 page); a presentation video (max. 2 minutes); and A2-sized pdf boards with technical drawings and renderings. The deliverables can be produced using any technique (analog or digital), but they must be original and unpublished.
