Contributions for International Mobility 2024/2025 have been defined by the Board of Governors of Politecnico di Milano as specified in the document below: CONTRIBUTIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY 2024/2025

What to do

1. Wait for the Nomination

  • after you have accepted the mobility, the International Mobility Unit (IMU) officially introduces you to the host institution (nomination) within the deadlines
  • after the nomination you may contact the host institution for any other necessary information

2. Fill out the Application at the assigned host institution

  • consult the website of the host institution to check their deadlines and the required documents
  • if no indications are provided, you may contact the host institution after our nomination

3. Prepare your trip

  • find out about the access rules in the host country
  • in particular, it checks if and when it is necessary to obtain an entry visa and / or health insurance.

PLEASE NOTE: if you are an international student with a regular residence permit, make sure that your permit expires after returning from international mobility. Otherwise, check with the police headquarters how to proceed with the renewal

4. Prepare the proposal of exams at the partner university

  • consult the educational offer of the partner university, choose the course of study you want to attend and set up a provisional study plan
  • arrange the plan with the Polimi referent professor
  • follow the didactical rules of both the host university's program and Polimi's (e.g. check the compulsory and optional exams)

PLEASE NOTE: You can also choose a study program other than the one you are enrolled in at Polimi (e.g. Polimi-MSc in Aeronautical Engineering / host site: Mechanical Engineering).

5. Prepare the Learning Agreement

After agreeing on the exam proposal with the referring professor, fill the Learning agreement with the courses you will attend at the partner campus and those that will be validated upon return of the mobility.

For the double degree you can prepare a LA for the whole period abroad or year by year as your referent professor suggests you.

  • consult the educational offer of the host institution (course catalogue, ETCS etc)
  • log in to the OLA application on the Online Services, fill it in and wait for your Academic Coordinator to assess your proposal.
  • NB: we can only generate your mobility contract if the OLA is approved by your Academic Coordinator

Watch here the tutorial on how to fill in the OLA.

6. Upload the Acceptance Letter

It is the official notification by the host institution that confirms the acceptance of your mobility. It contains useful information on your mobility period and/or other educational/organisational aspects.

  • upload it on My Mobilities as soon as you receive it
  • Indicate the date of the beginning of the activities as written in the Acceptance Letter or according to the academic calendar of the partner university

PLEASE NOTE: it is possible that the letter of acceptance is one of the documents required for obtaining a visa where required. Inquire with the consulate or embassy of reference.

It is the agreement that regulates your study period at the host institution. You sign an agreement for every year abroad.

  • in the agreement, you find information on the duration of the mobility, the amount of the scholarship, the necessary documentation to obtain the validation of exams
