Bio-3D Printing 4.0

The Bio-3D Printing 4.0 laboratory was established in 2022 by Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with the Lombardy Region. The lab focuses on the use of two-photon polymerization (2PP), a state-of-the-art ultra-high-resolution 3D printing technique, to address research challenges in various bio-related applications, such as tissue engineering and the fabrication of micro-devices.

Main macro-areas

01

3D Bioprinting

High resolution structures and substrates with 3D micro/nano features, development of custom resins, and cell-encapsulation.

02

Microfluidic platforms

Design and development of microfluidic systems for chemical synthesis and organ-on-chip applications.

03

In-situ monitoring

Extraction, analysis and optimisation of data derived from in-situ monitoring of printing processes.

04

Printing on chip and optical fiber

High-precision, aligned 3D printing of micro-optical elements on optical fibers, and chips.
